Recently, I finally took the steps to create my own dedicated website (this post being the first on my brand new personal blog! Yay!).
I don’t know why I had never decided to do it before, but I think perhaps the fact that I was too comfortable in not knowing how to go about it, and being daunted by the idea of starting the project, was a major part of the reason. I became so good at using free online WYSIWYG type blogs and sites that I thought I could get away with that and still incorporate my own personal style whilst maintaining a consistent ‘look’ to all of the multitude of sites I was using.
But, you know what, after having a kid, I realised I couldn’t keep up with maintaining them all. I found it difficult to keep up when a site updated and having to go in and trying to maintain my look. I didn’t want to have to take time away from the kid to do all that stuff, so, oddly, I decided to start my own. One space. One site. One Lee Lee and the Bee. And here it is.
Of course, I will still be using a lot of online sites like zazzle, red bubble, skreened and spoonflower to sell my designs, but everything else Lee Lee and the Bee related, updates on what I’m doing, artwork and designs I love etc, will be centered here.
All that being said, I am still hoping to draw and create new products once in a while. For now, however, my focus is on being a mum, learning and working towards creating a future for me that included gainful employment doing something I love.
Of course, in the meantime, news and updates will be forthcoming via this new site (if somewhat staggered and unscheduled) and I’m really looking forward to connecting with people here and sharing my journey with friends and strangers.
Let me know if there is something specific you would like to see here at Lee Lee and the Bee, and don’t forget to join me on facebook/pinterest/twitter etc – you can see the links at the top right of the page here. 🙂
