Our son started in daycare recently. Of course, as a mother this made me feel a lot of things, not least of which was a horrible, unfounded sense that I was abandoning him somehow. But he has taken to it with great gusto and absolutely LOVES it! A fact which has made it a lot easier for me to overcome my negative feelings for the whole business. That his daycarer is also a super caring and lovely woman who just adores her charges is also a great bonus.
The other bonus for me of course is suddenly having more time to draw and create!
The image for the first one, ‘Erik: Space Adventurer”, was actually taken back when he was around a year old (he’s now just past 19 months) so it has taken me a while to get it finished. I put this down to not only spending most of my time trying to keep up with his excessive amounts of energy, but also because JUST LOOK AT ALL THOSE FIDDLY BUTTONS! Every time I would get a few minutes to spare, I would start drawing little buttons, and dials and screens. It just seemed to take forever!

The next one is a little weird, I admit. But that’s not my fault. I took a photo of him riding his plastic tricycle and the first thing I thought when I looked at it was Velociraptor. Don’t ask me why. My brain just does weird things.
Of course you can’t just be riding a velociraptor. No, you also have to be fighting a giant wasp while a volcano rumbles in the background.
Because, of course.
